Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack returns to Lost Lake this holiday season, from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve, transforming the bar into a winter wonder-island. Following Lost Lake’s tradition of being a bit “over-the-top,” guests will enjoy a psychotically tropical X-mas explosion that will cover the bar with miles of pink tinsel, thousands of twinkling lights and hundreds of glittering snowflakes. Don’t fret – there will also be the glimmery, shimmery blue and sliver Star of Dave Cave!

Lost Lake will serve a full menu of holiday cocktails including returning favorites, such as: “…and a Parrot in a Palm Tree” (Reposado Tequila, Mezcal, Curaçao, Lost Lake Coconut Syrup, Lime) and “On Christmas Island” (Aged Demerara Rum, Jamaican Rum, Multi-Island Overproof Rum, Ginger, Passionfruit, Lemon, Don’s Spices #2).

The Lost Lake Gift Shop will also be filled with limited-edition holiday treats including: Santa-themed glassware by Cocktail Kingdom (various prices), signed bottles of Plantation O.F.T.D ($50), Lost Lake Multi-Island Plantation Rum 2015 ($80) and Paul McGee Private Barrel A.D Rattray Caroni 18 Year ($80), t-shirts ($20) and a variety of tropical ceramic mugs ($20).

For bar-goers looking to give back, Lost Lake’s pink Christmans tree will be the hub for guests to make a donation to the Chicago Period Project, an organization founded by former Lost Laker Ashley Novoa that’s dedicated to providing the less fortunate menstruating people of our city with the items they need to have healthy periods.

Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack will be open seven days a week, from 4 p.m. – 2 a.m. and until 3 a.m. on Saturdays. For more information, please visit. www.lostlaketiki.com

We’re excited to share that Lonesome Rose is now officially open!

Lonesome Rose is an all-day restaurant and bar focusing on the rich cultural histories of the regional states of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States.

While a border may divide two countries, the histories of these areas have long been intertwined, informing and influencing each other across generations. This is most evident in the regions’ drinking and eating habits, where ingredients, recipes, and techniques have passed continuously across these borders, improving with each pass.

With Lonesome Rose, we celebrate and explores this exciting history, with accessible, approachable menus from a culinary team led by Executive Chef Pete Coenen (Cherry Circle Room, Lost Lake) and cocktails by Beverage Director Paul McGee (Cherry Circle Room, Lost Lake), which focus on the flavors these regions share. Opening early, and staying up (very) late, Lonesome Rose offers accessible, creative takes on the best these border regions have to offer.

Join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks every single day.

2101 N. California Ave.
Open at 7am daily; food until 1am & drinks until 2am Sun – Fri / 3am Sat

We’re pleased to partner with the Museum of Contemporary Art in presenting a live performance of French musician Colleen on Friday, November 3!

Colleen is the alias of French musician Cécile Schott, who, over the course of five albums, has consistently reinvented herself by taking acoustic instruments out of their usual context and pushing the boundaries of their playability with compositions ranging from the mysterious and contemplative to kinetic and playful. Colleen has played throughout Europe, the US, Japan, Brazil, and Singapore, giving more than 200 concerts in prestigious venues and festivals such as Moogfest, Big Ears, Mutek, Transmediale, Villette Sonique, Rewire, and many more.

They Call Us The Seekers
SEEKERS_MAIN-819x1024.jpg

In celebration of the Chicago Marathon, we’re excited to work with artist Adam Geremia on an installation in the Drawing Room of the Chicago Athletic Association. They Call Us The Seekers will be in the case until November 5.

We are The Seekers, an intentional community of meditative runners. The Seekers reject the notion that faster is better. Personal athleticism has been co-opted by the running-industrial complex, in which selling product is more important than spiritual awakening.

Our goal: reclaim running with the power transcendent experience through movement. What we’re seeking can’t be bought or sold, it can’t be measured in miles. We seek the ecstatic.

Join us at theycallustheseekers.com.

Adam Geremia is the founder and leader of The Seekers. He has several projects exploring the nature of consciousness, the senses, and creating experiences that connect us to our bodies and our environment. He advocates for short shorts.

See more of his work at adamgeremia.com.
