This January marks Longman & Eagle’s tenth anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, the Longman team will be revisiting some of their favorite dishes and drinks from throughout the last decade. For the last ten days of the month, head to Longman for a special menu featuring three dishes and three cocktails from the Longman archive of greatest hits, taking us way back through the years all the way to founding chef Jared Wentworth. The special menu will be available for dinner daily (in addition to the full menu) from January 23 through February 1.
Then, in true Longman fashion, we’ll host a blow out Monday night party, open to the community. On Monday, February 3. From 5-8p, join the L&E team for bites, drinks, and music, and let us say thanks for ten years of good times in Logan Square. Some familiar faces will be back to tend bar (stay tuned for the lineup!) and we’ll welcome the next ten years of Longman & Eagle with a party to remember. RSVP to rsvp@longmanandeagle.com to join in.
If summer can't last forever, at least we've got sweet orange gourds at our disposal to express our inner fall feelings. Hope we catch you at one of our -very- autumnal events this month.

After a two year hiatus, Longman & Eagle is back for their end-of-summer block party!
Join us on Sunday, September 1 from 1-9p for an afternoon at the L&E Swap Meet. Longman & Eagle Executive Chef Max Robbins will be cooking up a meat-free menu of county fair favorites, like Loaded BBQ Nachos, Street Corn-Off-The-Cobb, Spicy Corndogs, and Chili Dogs (all featuring Beyond Meat plant-based products). Some of our favorite local shops and artists will be selling their wares, like Louie Capozolli, Ryan Duggan, Ace High Vintage, No Requests, and many more. We'll also have plenty of beer and cocktails to go around, DJs all day long, and for the first time ever... a mechanical bull!
This May, head to Longman & Eagle for Reckless Eagle Izakaya! In a hybrid celebration of the casual Japanese pubs and the rockabilly revival (motorcycles and all) that swept Tokyo in the mid-twentieth century, the OSB will be fully transformed from Sunday, May 5 - Thursday, May 9, from 5pm-midnight.
On the food side, Chef Max Robbins will explore the traditional robatayaki method of grilling over charcoal with a full menu of offerings like reba (chicken liver), hatsu (duck heart), tarabagani (king crab) and more. He’ll also have premium raw nigiri, oyster shooters, and hand rolls. A range of small and large bar snacks will also be available nightly including asari no sakamashi (clam and sake soup), karage (fried chicken with napa slaw), and wagyu katsu sandwiches on milk bread.
Izakayas are pubs after all, and Longman never skimps on the drinks. Assistant bar manager Jake Dean’s menu will embody the spirit of the classic Izakaya offerings, with Sapporo Lager, Jim Beam Highballs, Japanese whisky (Hakushu 12, and Yamazaki 18), and sake, for bombing (Dassai 50 Junmai Daiginjo), and sipping (Yusho Kikisui Nama Genshu — yes, from our old neighbors at Yusho!). He’s also put together two cockails — one shaken, one stirred. The shaken is a sake-based lychee colada (Twisted White Light) and the stirred is a white boulevardier with a premium Japanese whiskey base (Waves Through Paradise).
Join us on Sunday, May 5, for an opening party! From 8-10pm, head to OSB for the full pop-up menu of food and drinks, plus karaoke.

Two LSD spots got some UK love in The Guardian’s recent guide to Chicago. Parson’s Chicken and Fish and Longman & Eagle were both included in their feature on places to eat, drink and stay in the city. Read the rest of their guide here, and to our LSD fans across the pond: It’s time to start planning your summer vacation…
