Nathaniel Russell

We’ve been enjoying spending time with Nathaniel Russell’s Slow Comet art installation at the Chicago Athletic Association.

But, as we know, nothing gold can stay, and soon it will be time for the work to make its way back to Nathaniel’s doorstep. The pieces are all currently for sale, so if you are interested in purchasing a real art work, feel free to reach out to him via Instagram. Make your way to the hotel to check out the work – it’s up through June 30.

Cherry Circle Yacht Club at Chicago Athletic Association

Land and Sea Dept. and the Chicago Athletic Association hotel are going nautical this summer with the Cherry Circle Yacht Club,  a bar concept popping up on the ground floor of the CAA from June 10 – June 26.

The pop-up’s opening weekend coincides with the world-renowned America’s Cupsailing competition, happening on Lake Michigan for the first time on June 10 – 12.

The Cherry Circle Yacht Club is inspired by the Chicago Athletic Association’s own yacht team from the early 20th century, and is named after their boat, the Cherry Circle. The concept was developed Chicago-based art gallery Johalla Projects and Ship to Shore Productions, content creators specializing in science, nature, and conservation story telling. Johalla Projects also designed the space, which will be housed in a freestanding structure in the hotel’s Tank event space, outfitted in vintage furniture, maritime-inspired décor, and coastal touches.

Land and Sea Dept. will be operating the bar, which will feature a menu of historic and nautically inclined cocktails from beverage director Paul McGee, alongside a selection of beer from Anchor Brewing and champagne from Moët-Hennessey.

LSD and the CAA will be collaborating on an event schedule for the CCYC – stay tuned here for more.
