Earth Day 2016
Art Direction / Curate / Design / Produce
Land and Sea Dept. was pleased to organize a special Earth Day event with the arts group Luftwerk and the non-profit Natural Resources Defense Council group.
Luftwerk “creates art installations using light, color and material to augment experiences of space and site, blending history and contemporary media to open new aesthetic conversations.”
The Natural Recourses Defense Council “was founded in 1970 by a group of law students and attorneys at the forefront of the environmental movement. Today’s leadership team and board of trustees makes sure the organization continues to work to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water and health communities.”
The event took place at the Garfield Park Conservatory, which was housing a site-specific Luftwerk installation, ‘solarise: a sea of all colors’.
Chicago natives Wild Belle offered up a live performance, We Theory deejayed, and the event also featured a collaborative beverage and food program from Cherry Circle Room wine director Andrew Algren, Land and Sea Dept. beverage director Paul McGee and Lula Café chef and owner Jason Hammel.
The LSD art department created a special consciousness-raising flyer, poster and program for the event, and the NRDC offered up environmental programming that further detailed their many, many efforts.
LSD partner Cody Hudson also designed a screen printed poster for Wild Belle to commemorate the event.
